Spoils (Acrylic on Canvas 36" by 27")
by Herbert Chow

On this snowy day, the Golden Eagle is heading home after a successful hunting trip with a moribund Rainbow Trout tightly gripped under his talons. The Douglas Fir in the middle suggests a possible home for this eagle and its spoils. The triumphant and regal countenance on the eagle’s face is in stark contrast to the lethargic and listless expression on that of the dying fish. The oblique view of the flying eagle and its position in front of the sun add to the height consciousness and confirms a scene that takes place at high altitude above the canopy. The glistening snowflakes in the foreground contrast with the less shiny flakes in the distance and add a subtle depth perception to the painting.

You can learn more about Golden Eagle in many excellent websites. One of them is the site called “Animal Corner”.
